CREATIVE WRITING JOB DESCRIPTION
Review existing creative writing curriculum and make recommendations which facilitate active learning and improve the writing skills of pupils.
Develop schemes of work and lesson plans in creative writing
Encourage pupils to explore ideas and develop their own voices in their writing
Develop and deliver creative writing lessons in a variety of genres
Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in creative writing
Guide pupils in innovative thinking and formulation of fiction novels, poems, plays, short stories and other literary works
Plan, organize and prepare pupils for in-house and external event/competition on essay or creative writing
Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet pupil’s varying needs
Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
Use relevant technology to support student learning
Observe and evaluate pupil’s performance and development
Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests and assignments
Encourage and monitor the progress of individual pupils
Maintain accurate and complete records and report of pupils’ progress and development in line with school regulation
Maintain discipline in the classroom in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school
Perform certain pastoral duties including student support, counselling students with academic problems and providing student encouragement
Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations
Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings
Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
Keep updated with developments in the subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.
