Our Client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Art Researcher Manager with a focus on Modern and Contemporary African Art. As an Art Researcher Manager, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our understanding and appreciation of the rich and diverse world of African art. Your research will contribute to our mission of showcasing the beauty and significance of contemporary African art globally.
Key Responsibilities
Research and Documentation: Conduct in-depth research on modern and contemporary African art, including artists, movements, and trends. Document findings and maintain an organized database of art-related materials.
Artistic Analysis: Analyse and interpret the works of African artists, providing critical insights into their themes, styles, and contributions to the art world.
Exhibition Curation: Collaborate with our curatorial team to plan and curate exhibitions that highlight modern and contemporary African art.
Network Building: Develop and maintain relationships with artists, galleries, collectors, and experts in the field to stay updated on the latest developments and emerging talent.
Educational Outreach: Create educational materials, publications, and presentations to promote awareness and understanding of African art.
Market Analysis: Monitor trends and market developments related to modern and contemporary African art to identify potential opportunities and challenges.
Contribute to and support all the company’s commissioned publishing.
Design, articulate and establish modern and contemporary library.
Track all actions relevant to the company’s target artist and artwork.
Maintain an elaborate database of target artist and works.
Any other research and intellectual effort to show target artist and artwork.
Research, develop and establish provenance of the company’s works and target works.
Maintain all relevant work papers in the company’s gallery.
Artistic Analysis: Analyze and interpret the works of African artists, providing critical insight into their themes, styles and contributions to the art world and relevant physical files.
Develop extensive research materials on company’s listed artist, artworks and target artworks.
Qualifications:
A deep sense of passion for research
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in art history, African Studies, or a related field.
Demonstrated expertise in modern and contemporary African art with a strong portfolio of research work.
Excellent research and analytical skills, with the ability to critically evaluate artworks and their cultural significance.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex art concepts effectively.
Proficiency in relevant research tools and databases.
A passion for African art and a commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity in the art world.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team with multi-disciplinary skill set

Pay: ₦150,000.00 – ₦200,000.00 per month
