The QDanceCenter is holding a week long workshop /audition for her coming creation; RE:INCARNATION – a contemporary afro-urban dance experience, for 9 young dancers in #Afro style, #contemporary, #hiphop and #Krump, along with 1 musician/DJ.
This piece is a way to continue my quest into body memory and to investigate a choreographic vocabulary that is peculiar to the new generation of black dancers. Coming from the #Yoruba aesthetics and philosophical approach, I am placing at the core of the piece, the Yoruba central concept of re:incarnation (birth, death and re-birth) which offers a distinct way of thinking about time and space in a cyclical manner.
