Job description
A Freelance Video editor is responsible for assembling recorded footage into a finished project that matches the director’s vision and is suitable for broadcasting. You will work closely with a Senior Video Editor under the supervision of the Creative Director to produce high-quality work.
Responsibilities
Edit footage into timelines and cut time out of certain shots to create a more impactful story for the audience.
Take a brief to grasp the production team’s needs and specifications.
Review shooting script and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scenes’ value and contribution to continuity.
Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the film.
Combine visual footage with background music, sound effects, dialogues, texts, graphics and effects to create a cohesive story/output.
Create rough and final cuts.
Has key understanding on client’s and creative director’s feedback.
Consult with stakeholders from production to post-production process.
Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency.
Knowledgeable in video/audio codecs, frame rates and formats.
Other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Can work with minimal supervision.
Time management and strong organizational skills.
Can handle constructive criticism.
Ability to create quality output on a tight deadline.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Art/Design/Creative Multimedia. Film studies, cinematography or related field.
Proven work experience as a video editor.
Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g. Premiere, After Effects).
Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio.
Thorough knowledge of timing, motivation and continuity.
Familiarity with special effects, 3D, and composting is a plus.
Creative mind and storytelling skills.
