Commemorating Chinua Achebes @90

Afropolis presents ‘commemorating Chinua Achebe @90’ a one-of-a-kind event commemorating the life of the father of African literature – the great Chinua Achebe.

Chinua Achebe was born on November 16, 1930 in Ogidi village, Anambra, Nigeria. He is posthumously turning 90 this year.

Achebe meant different things to different artistes in different disciplines. Thus, this event will be interdisciplinary exploration of the things he gave his life’s works to. At the core of this two-day digital gathering, will be a creative attempt to remember, to relive and to reinvigorate the grandeur of his eloquence, his interest in extracting old concerns from the new, as well as his lifelong commitment to the questions of human dignity.

This is a medium of appraising Achebes legacy, making November 15 & 16, 2020 a worthy memorial to the great Chinua Achebe, with programs ranging from film screening, dance and music performances, exhibition, storytelling, monologues, performance poetry, and panel discussions, all accessible to an international audience through the digital platform (afropolis.org).

To be a part of the posthumous #chinuaat90 event, visit https://www.afropolis.org/ to register.
