The role:

This role will represent AWAL in the local market both with external partners and internal Sony stakeholders. It will be the primary point of contact for artists based in the market and will support the growth of AWAL’s business locally by attracting and developing successful artists.

The ideal candidate is results-driven and ambitious, with a passion for music and artists. They will also have the ability to build trusted, creative relationships with artists and partners, championing the AWAL brand in the market and delivering on our mission to partner with independent artists to tell stories that shape culture.

What you will do

Represent AWAL locally, serving as a brand ambassador in West Africa
Act as the first point of contact for signed artists and their teams
Provide operational support to artists using AWAL technology for distribution
Advise priority local AWAL artists on marketing strategy, release planning, and DSP pitch submissions, leveraging best practices from AWAL and local Sony teams
Represent AWAL in day-to-day interactions with Sony’s teams locally, including A&R, marketing, and commercial partnerships
Partner with local Sony A&R and marketing teams to attract high-potential artists to AWAL and build local artist development strategies to support them
Build and maintain strong relationships with local DSP partners (e.g., Spotify, Audiomack), supporting with promotional materials as needed
Build and maintain strong relationships with local content and social media platforms (e.g., Glitch, Trace), creating opportunities for AWAL artists in the market
Coordinate promotion teams for local artists
Generate regular reporting on artist campaign progress
Who you are:

5+ years of experience with a record company, artist services company, or distributor
Sound knowledge of the local and global digital landscape including social media platforms, DSP ecosystem, digital marketing, and data analytics
Sound knowledge of the current music market locally, including both traditional media and new platforms, and a firm understanding of artist development
Strong network of relationships with managers, lawyers, media, and partners (commercial and promotional) within the local music market
Entrepreneurial, creative outlook with a strong team spirit
Love of music and appreciation of all music genres
Ability to work autonomously and prioritize effectively
Strong organizational skills
Fluent in English
